Making our practice more sustainable

Steps we have already taken:

  • Bicycle parking in the front garden
  • Digital radiographs (reducing our chemical use)
  • Turning off appliances when not in use
  • Recycle where possible (labelling bins correctly)
  • Using email/text messages and telephone calls instead of letters
  • Reducing our Amalgam use
  • Not overfilling kettles
  • Insect-friendly plants and flowers in our garden
  • Discussing ways to improve our sustainability during staff meetings
  • Eco-friendly paper cups in the Waiting Room

Steps we are aiming for:

  • Reducing our paper waste (double sided printing etc.)
  • Purchase environmentally friendly products for our stock e.g. Bamboo Toothbrushes
  • Use LED lighting throughout the practice
  • Double glaze windows (this is an ongoing project as some have already been done)
  • When purchasing new equipment aim for durable, low kilowatt rating items with a long warranty
  • Encourage staff and patients to walk/cycle to the practice
  • Reducing our plastic waste
  • Carrying out patient surveys (patients opinions on how we are doing)
